Over the years we have rescued as many animals as possible. Here are a few of our successes. These successes have resulted from our efforts as well as the efforts of the SPCA of the Fiji Islands and VetCare of Fiji, the private animal clinic in Garden City, Suva, Fiji Islands.

Dog 1
Carla

Carla was our first. She was found with 3 other siblings under the apartment at 55A Laucala Campus, Suva, Fiji Islands. She was the largest of the four pups but the most damaged with her head and tail partly eaten by either a rat or mongoose. My dear friend fed her with a stopper and comforted her every day. She grew well with care and kindness. Later, she was brought to the USA and is now a big girl very happy but still scared of thunder showers. All other siblings were adopted.

Brownie

Brownie was a little pup found with his sibling, Chanel. Brownie has had five owners as a result of the inability of the first three owners to take him with them as they left for different parts of the world. He was given to Mark for the best of care until his final owner could come to Fiji and arrange to take Brownie boy back to the USA. Although he would be happier running his old neighborhood in Fiji, he is happy in his new home with his family. Dear Chanel was a most intelligent Doberman mix who spent her last happy days in Thailand with her owners who loved her with a great passion.

Tui
Tui

When we saw Tui, a Ridgeback mix, he was focused on the tourists in Pacific Harbour. Afterall, that was where the food was. He stayed around through the weekend and we decided we would take him home. He had first-degree mange but was in pretty good shape. He was treated and stayed with us over the next three months until we could arrange for his departure for the USA.

Lucky

Lucky, a Beagle mix, was found trying to get shelter on a hot day under a taxi in front of the Federal Reserve Building in Suva, Fiji Islands. We were driving a car and had to park the car in the car garage at Prouds. The attendant was so wonderful to hold the very skinny girl dog while I went to bring the car down to where Lucky and the attendant were waiting. She then, like all the others, was neutered and treated for needed medical care and brought home or taken to the SPCA for placement. Lucky was brought home. She later came to the USA and now is happy although she likes to eat way too much. It is a battle to keep her weight down - soooooooo different from her status in the Fiji Islands. She loves to make her self known and is a very loud girl.

Dog 2
Rikky

Rikky, a Doberman mix, was found with his friend May wondering in the neighborhood. Both he and May were taken to the SPCA for medical care and placement. May was placed with a wonderful family. Rikky was to stay with Mark. However, due to the need for Mark to take Coco, another sweet stray we found in the neighborhood, Rikky ended up coming to the USA with Brownie and Dennis in 2009. Rikky is a lovable cuss who likes to nip the back of one's legs to show his love. We call him "Boston Blacky", "Black Beauty", "Rikky Ricardo".

Max

Max, a Doberman mix, was a dog I did not have time to help. But my friend Helena was able to advocate for Max. Max loved her mightily and although she tried to place him with a local family, Max would run away and come home to her. We had to get Max out of Fiji as his reputation on the University campus was not good. He was a very gentle dog but several people in the neighborhood did not look kindly on him. Max was taken to Hobart Tasmania where he lives today eating chicken and happy with love from his owners.
